This year's Common Law Society Summer School on Fundamental Rights in Europe will take place from 12 to 26 July 2015 in a magical setting of the Giant Mountains in the Czech Republic.
Together with students from all over Europe, you will be led through various topics focusing on the protection of fundamental rights in the European Union and the system of the European Convention on Human Rights by lecturers from both the Court of Justice of the European Union and the European Court of Human Rights, top European universities and legal practice.
The programme consists of a general course and a specialization course, guest lectures, discussion panel and a moot court. The general course on Fundamental Rights in Europe will be taught by Xavier Groussot (EU part) and Eduardo Gill-Pedro (ECHR part), both from Lund University. The specialization course presented by Laura Lynskey from London School of Economics and Political Science will focus on the Right to Privacy in a Digital Age.
The distinguished lectures will be given by Sacha Prechal, Judge of the ECJ, and András Sajó, Judge of the ECHR. Guest lectures will be given, amongst others, by Barbara Havelková, Martin Husovec,, Jan Komárek, Daniel Sarmiento and Vít Schorm. At the moment, we are waiting for confirmation from other addressed lecturers. Attached please find interim programme and profiles of all lecturers and their courses.
There is also a non-academic dimension of this summer school: you are invited to participate in various trips and sports, to use the wellness equipment of the chalet (sauna, whirlpool) and to enjoy the free evenings, getting to know your fellow students and the lecturers. The free weekend also gives you a chance to explore Prague or go hiking in the surrounding national park!
